Dark Honey - Oud and Amber

$40.00

This blend has the fantastic scents of amber, excellent Oud and dark honey…

It is luxurious, unique, and sweetly aromatic, but it is grounded by the Ensar Oud, Zestina.

Though it contains no florals, something in the combination exudes an aroma like a golden meadow.

A place where the bees would become ecstatic.

Perhaps one of our finest Kyphi Style blends to date, we are all in love with it.

I went mad with the ingredients, and that abandon produced a poetic incense.

Each Cake is hand-embossed with Indian Floral motifs.

*Honey notes impart a gourmand quality to fragrances, while the beeswax absolute (Absolue cire d’abeille) harvested from honeycombs of Apis mellifera, grown in France, is used for an ethically harvested animalic note in scents. This absolute is rare, produced by solvent extraction, and due to its surprising thickness, it does not blend easily in a blend. It can be, therefore, diluted in alcohol or gently warmed and added to essential oils and allowed to age before being used in a formula.

This price is for .5 oz. (8-9 large cakes) of this heady blend. The cakes are nested in ground vanilla-scented Sweet Grass and Wild Flower petals

(limited quantity)

From Katlyn:

I had a wonderful experience when creating Dark Honey. After careful Blending, we shaped and stamped each cake, then went outside for a break. Upon returning to the studio, the most exquisite fragrance enveloped us! It actually moved me to tears. Sometimes, moving away from a scent and then coming back to it can be amazing.

*On Zestina Oud:

Oud doesn’t sit neatly on a spectrum. It sprawls… ‘fruity’ doesn’t cancel out ‘earthy’, ‘woody’ doesn’t oppose ‘floral’. It’s not a line. You’ve got an olfactory map with shifting borders.

Thai oud tends to lean into lush: fruits and florals take center stage. Think Sumanaka’s syrupy gleam or Kusuma’s petal-slicked sweetness – both textbook, both unmistakably Thai.

Zestina barges into your nose with apricot and plum, ripe, dripping, sliding off freesia stems and pooling into magnolia. A whisper of coco. A flicker of incense that feels almost Papuan. Rain-on-earth vibes, but glazed with tangy fruit.

That jammy coco note? It’s not cacao, obviously. It’s the mirage of it. Oud has a way creating such mirages, which is why there’s no end to exploring its scent! Incense curling around plum-flecked magnolia that leaves a phantom trail.
