“Desert Blessing” is, I hope, just that, a blessing to help us through the summer It is a combination of some of my very favorite aromatics, and I believe that this incense is one of the best incense blends I have ever created. Uplifting, Refreshing scents that cycle through clean herbal to rich balsamic, green notes of mountain trees and natural resins.

 

For many years, I have tried to create an incense that contained the beauty of the desert. The aroma of wild sages, the bliss of Chaparral at dawn*, the power of copal's scent as the heat draws it to the senses.

 

The summers here are intense, but I believe that the desert's natural aromas help combat the heat and bring a unique coolness to the body and spirit.

 

These plants are sacred; they carry the intensity and traditions of the landscape. I harvested the botanicals from our surrounding area, ground them while still fresh and potent, and blended them into the resins and wood powders. The mixture was dried slowly and mixed daily until fully cured and perfectly balanced.

 

I hope you enjoy this blend as much as I did creating it.

Copal blanco  and Negro- (from the South)

Orange Galbanum (desert green aroma)

Desert and White Sage, Rosemary, Chaparral, Mugwort (from our yard)

Cedar, Fir, Cypress, Pine, Desert Juniper

 

Enhanced with Eucalyptus Absolute, Creosote tincture, Fir Balsam

 

*In the desert there is special time when  a unique scent permeates the air.  Bringing freshness and clean resinous  healing. It is usually experienced at dawn as the morning mists roll across the landscape, or after a light cool desert rain. For it is the precious moisture that brings alive the smells of the desert heart plants, especially Chaparral, also known as Creosote.

 

I have such beautiful memories of these rare desert rains and misty dawns.  In the fall, after all-night fire circles filled with drumming and dancing, as the sun rises , the mist rolls in  -  this aroma envelopes us with a blessing and awakens our tired but elated bodies.
